Steamed Fish Head

Fatty Porridge, OUG. It's a stall located inside a kopitiam restaurant called Restoran Double Nine and the stall is only open for dinner and supper. This stall actually serves more than Frog Porridge.

I heard the steamed fish head is also good but I have never got the chance to try it yet. Since it's an open style street seating kind of place, please don't expect air conditioning. Just dress casually, take a seat and enjoy.

Old Klang Road

Fatty Bak Kut Teh & Steamed Fish Head You may pass a debilitated trio of daichow-like stalls as you speed down Old Klang Road. Our advice: stop and sup instead. Previously open from six in the evening till 5am, they've now extended their opening hours to accommodate the early-risers.

Each is a different station: one stall takes care of the bak kut teh, another the stir-fry dishes, and the third their famous Cantonese-style steamed fish head. Overseeing the entire operation is a rather rotund gentleman (usually clad in a white singlet) from whom the shop gets its unmistakably accurate name: Fatty Bak Kut Teh & Steamed Fish Head. The fish head (RM30 and above) is available three different ways: steamed with ginger, soy sauce or cili padi.

Chicken Whole Leg

Nestled in Jiang He Coffee Shop, this stall is quite difficult to find, as the shop is hidden at a car park area behind Fahrenheit 88 Shopping Mall. What's more, the fried chicken stall is only open twice a week, on every Wednesday and Saturday.

Same as Chicken King in Setapak, you can choose to enjoy the fried chicken whole leg, or only the drumstick or thigh part. Their fried chicken wins the hearts of patrons with its super crispy skin and firm meat. Try it once, and you'll surely come back for more!

No Longer

Mario's Bohemian Cigar Store no longer has anything to do with cigars and everything to do with people watching, toasted sandwiches, coffees and tumblers of cheap wine. It's the kind of place you can dine alone and still feel comfortable.

I used to come here by myself with a magazine or a book, prop myself up at the bar, linger over a latte and watch the world go by.
