Chicken Rice

Pork toast at Li, RM9.50. Chef Heng Kit, formerly of Kitchen Table, heads the open kitchen at neighbourhood restaurant Li, where updated Malaysian fare comes in the form of pork toast (think roti babi made with chilli mayo, house-made sourdough, and lots of cilantro), rice bowls (with a ginger scallion sauce that's reminiscent of the sauce in chicken rice), a pan mee-like version of pasta with slow-cooked pork, ikan bilis congee, and more.

For dessert, order the lychee with coconut milk, meringue and lime granite that's made in house for a sweet finish.

Good Selection

Good selection of breads, not just German breads available (e.g. ciabatta, ubiquitous croissant), freshly baked.

Also has a selection of sandwich based lunch fare, most of which tasted quite adequate, some of which offered a twist on Malaysian fare (rendang sandwich, anyone?. Slight downside is that the sausages on offer, for which Germany is so famed, are non-pork. Service was friendly and warm.

Black Pepper Sauce

A Li Yaa Island Restaurant and Bar, Bukit Damansara. This unique restaurant serves up Sri Lanka-inspired dishes, including their delectable Sri Lankan crab curry.

This curry infuses a multitude of warm herbs and spices into the thick sauce, which proves to be a wonderful pairing to the 1 kg of crab swimming in it. Heady with aromatic spices and seasoned to perfection, this dish hasn't been getting rave reviews for nothing! If curry isn't your thing (but why wouldn't it be?) you can also opt for their black pepper sauce to go with your crab, which is equally as admired by past patrons!
