Chinese New Year Celebration
Xin Cuisine at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur
In conjunction with this year's Chinese New Year celebration, Xin Cuisine at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur offers six tantalising Yee Sang variations (jelly fish, shredded duck meat, sliced abalone, snow pear or Norwegian salmon) and three nine-course menus for lunch and dinner. Commencing from 19 January until 5 March, these set menus are priced at RM1, 188++, RM1, 388++ and RM1, 588++ per table. Some of the traditional Chinese delicacies served here include mini Buddha Jumps over the Wall (Fujian-style shark fin soup), steamed dragon grouper, and the Five Happiness assorted BBQ meat (crispy BBQ suckling pig, roasted duck, char siew or pork belly, and roasted pork).

Foodtrucks In Klang Valley

Foodtrucks In Klang Valley
Foodtrucks in Klang Valley. Little Fat Duck at Pasar Moden PBSJ, SS15, Subang Jaya. Where does one even buy a plate of pasta for RM6.50 in the city? Chances of finding it in a sit-down restaurant is nil, but with this food truck, you can eat all the pasta you want as it is ridiculously cheap for city prices. Don't expect duck meat in your pasta though, as no ducks were harmed in this truck.

Hong Kong
Sometimes chicken rice stalls will sell duck rice as well, but the real good ducks are in specialized duck rice only shops. The common version of duck rice, influenced by roast meats in Hong Kong, uses plain white rice with ruby red roasted duck, and is drizzled with braised sauce. The other Teochew version uses braised yam rice and braised duck meat, along with some tau pok, eggs and peanuts on the side. Teochews just love braised sauce. Both are equally yummy and have distinctively different taste profiles. Lian Kee Braised Duck: 49 Sims Place, Sims Vista Market and Food Centre, Singapore.

Huge Variety
Joo Seng Teochew Porridge & Rice. This is my go-to place for Teochew porridge fix – just 5 mins drive away from Bukit Timah. The braised duck meat and boiled squid are particularly good and very consistent in quality. A huge variety of dishes including a few non Teochew delights greet visitors – indeed it is somewhat akin to an “economical rice” stall. Address: 14 Cheong Chin Nam Road, Singapore 599738
Operating hours: 10am – 4am (Daily)

Duck Meat
Kedai Masakan Itik Taika Huat.
Located in the middle of a small housing area, this stall has been in operation since the 1970s and is now being run by the family's second and third generation. Famous among the locals, you can find the walls of the stall covered with newspaper articles featuring their food, which says a lot about how good they are. Braised for several hours, the duck meat at Taika Huat is wonderfully tender and juicy. Have it with a bowl of kueh-tiaw noodles (swimming in yummy braising liquid from the duck) or rice.
