White Wine

Marmalade Pantry, Singapore. The Braised Veal Cheek ($34) was exceedingly fragrant and falls apart nicely, having been braised with white wine, veal juice and cinnamon for 4-6 hours.

However, what impressed me most was the pomme puree (finely milled potatoes folded with cream, butter and truffle oil), which was so yummy I found myself wishing I could ask the chef for seconds.

Anything Else

Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick Bobbi Brown's Brightening Brick is supposed to combine the "warmth of a bronzer and the soft flush of a blush," but we found it made skin sparkle more than anything else. Despite claims that it adds subtle luminosity, the glittery finish wasn't as finely milled as we hoped—instead the flecks of sparkle show up noticeably on skin and can end up drifting to other areas.

In the end, this product left us feeling more "meh" than "lit-from-within." And nothing about its shine was subtle! Composed of six shades in one solid compact, Brightening Brick has a stiff, pressed powder texture. The glitter particles pick up easily enough on a brush, but getting the color itself to adhere takes a couple more sweeps (especially with the "Pink" and "Pastel Pink" shades).

Really Nice

MAC GLITTER Yes, it's just glitter & normally I would say get your glitter at a dollar store but this is an exception. MAC glitter is really nice to create a more grown up yet fun, glittery look because it's really finely milled instead of looking like craft glitter.

Memory Foam

Please be aware that after unwrapping any rolled mattress will take anywhere between 4-8 hours to expand to 90% of its full size. It can take further 4-6 hours to reach its maximum. What is a non turn mattress? Yes, you should, but the construction of memory foam means this is somewhat impossible.

You can rotate the mattress to even out wear. You can't turn it or you would be sleeping on the firm reflex layer which would give a completely different feel to the mattress and damage the top layer as the weight shifts onto it. Serta Malaysia.

Chocolate Peanut Butter

Who ever goes to the Marmalade Pantry, Singapore without trying their desserts? Their Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake ($12) and Banana Fosters Crepe ($12) are good choices.

Their handmade peanut butter ice cream deserves a special mention; I felt like I was eating peanut butter in ice cream form, if that makes sense.

Place Go

If you're looking for a hearty Christmas brunch, this The Marmalade Pantry, Singapore is the place to go. There is a modern, contemporary vibe to Oasia Hotel's outlet which I find refreshing compared to overdone cafe-style decor.

Another bonus would be escaping the claustrophobic Christmas crowds on Orchard road! This meal was love at first bite. The thick and creamy Bourbon Pumpkin Soup with Ricotta & Chestnut Ravioli ($10) is truly comfort food for the soul, with the ravioli's ricotta cheese bursting inside your mouth for deliciously cheesy bite.

New York Hair Salon

New York Hair Salon. I was welcomed into this lovely space and then found myself in Tammy's capable (and beautifully-manicured) hands.

She gave me a trim and was very patient and thorough as she took me through the steps of caring for and styling my frizzy, thin, colored hair. Pleasant and professional, I left feeling hopeful that, with her help, I just might be able to restore my hair to good health.

Kota Damansara

Movida The Scott Garden I found myself down Kota Damansara way so I gravitated towards Giza Mall to check Movida out. Not just a club, oh no, Movida is attempting to be all things to all people, so encompassing is its tagline: ‘Kitchen, Bar, Club Lounge'.

It's a solid space – dark and womb-like; the club is well-sized and square-ish. It spills out onto the outside patio where you can have a meal before continuing the night inside. What's really delightful is the upstairs area, ideal in Goldilocks-esque size (not too big, not too small with a select view of the DJ console), with its two VIP sections – red, chintzy chambers designed to hold a smattering of select individuals.
