EDM or Electrical discharge machining is frequently used at Pacific Die Casting Corp. to make dies and molds for die casting.

EDM, is especially well-suited for cutting thin ribs and other details that would be difficult to produce with a mill or other cutting tools. Often times with lighting die casting molds or die cast roof tile molds, intricate cuts are required. A graphite electrode must then be shaped and aligned in an EDM machine to produce the desired feature.

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Milling is how Pacific Die Casting begins shaping blocks of steel into the desired mold shapes. CNC mills can perform the functions of drilling and milling.

The CNC Mills at PDC are controlled by sophisticated network of computers. The 3D mold Solidworks mold file is converted into Surfcam file which plots the 3D mold on an x, y, and z graph, giving coordinates to the required cuts. These coordinates control the CNC Mills according to the axes that they possess.

Keeping in pace with the latest design software, Pacific Die Casting uses the latest “SolidWorks” software to design 3D models of parts, molds, and components. Engineering is also compatible with Pro Engineering, Auto Cad, and all major 3D & 2D design software.

Pacific Die Casting will quote insert tooling. Their customers have the option of paying for inserts only and using company owned holders. By using these holders or mold bases this allows for faster lead times and lower costs.

Brass Die Casting. Pacific Die Casting casts many fine brass light fixtures, brass door handles, brass latches, etc.

Requiring temperatures of approximately 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, brass die casting is often not within the typical die caster's capabilities. However, Pacific Die Casting is knowledgeable and experienced in mold making and die casting brass alloys. Aluminum Die Casting. Aluminum die casting has been a specialty of Pacific Die Casting since its founding.

Pacific Die Casting has 24 aluminum die casting machines ranging from 250-1200 tons in our Commerce facility and 8 die cast machines ranging from 250-650 tons in our Tecate facility. Our 32 aluminum die cast machines give us the flexibility of running small and large parts in low and high volumes. Light weight, High dimensional stability for complex shapes and thin walls, Good corrosion resistance, Good mechanical properties, and etc.

DieCast. The production brings the design to reality. PDC's skilled operators and precision die casting machines consistently produce high-quality parts in multiple Aluminum Alloys, Zinc and Brass.

With experienced die casters operating around the clock, you can expect your parts when you need them. Pacific Die Casting has one of the largest assortments of large diecast machines in the Western United States. With 19 machines over 500 tons (includes machine bought from Sonny), PDC has the capability of producing parts up to 25 pound parts.
