Thread Count Egyptian Cotton Sheets
I can't imagine paying $270 for a queen size set of those Macy Hotel line 600 thread count sheets (I need the deep fitted sheet). I got Fieldcrest 600 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets from Target on Black Friday for 50% off (normally $80, so $40). So far so good and much better than my old TJMax sheets. By my calculation, those Macy's sheets would have to be 3x better at minimum, and 6x better if I'm going by my purchase price.

High Thread Count Sheets Often
Story@Home 152 TC 100% Cotton White King Size Bedsheet With 2 Pillow Covers. The quality of bed sheets is often conveyed by the thread count-the number of threads per square inch of material. In general, the higher the thread count, the softer the Bed sheet. High thread count sheets are often promoted as an amenity in luxury.

High Thread Count Sheets
THREAD COUNT 600 EGYPTIAN COTTON CLASSICAL SHEET SETS.Beautiful Italian 600 thread count sheets sets and shams can be yours at an amazing price. These pieces are woven with the world's best Egyptian Giza cotton in incredibly fine 120 gauge yarns. Then the yarns are plied for strength, durability, and resistance to pilling. Plied yarns are twisted together prior to weaving the fabric, which is more expensive but produces a fabric far superior to other high thread count sheets. This combined with the sateen weave gives them a silky, smooth feel.

Egyptian Cotton Sheet Set

Egyptian Cotton Sheet Set
One of those daily deal sites recently sent out an email offering a “Queen-sized Egyptian sheet set”. MrConsumer has never seen an Egyptian cotton sheet set for such a low price. The name of the product is “Egyptian Comfort 1200”. Wow, 1200 thread count sheets. A little further down, however, the true nature of the offer was disclosed. So these are really not Egyptian cotton at all, but rather microfiber. We asked the customer service department what the actual fiber composition of these sheets was cotton, cotton blend and polyester.

Thread Count Cotton

Thread Count Cotton
Cotton is the most commonly used material to make bedsheets. Low thread count cotton is coarse and scratchy and more likely to pill (create small cotton balls on the surface). Higher thread count sheets are made with finer threads, resulting in softer sheets. Fine cottons such as Egyptian or Supima cotton bedsheet are considered amongst the finest quality cotton sheets available because they are made of highest quality cotton, called long staple cotton. The longer the fiber the better because it creates stronger and finer yarns.
