Black Pepper Sauce

Yazid Burger at Medan Selera Anjung 7. Burger Baker Starting from RM 10. Found in the corner of a food court.

In fact, what they offer may not be the sloppy joes you're used to. They sell only one type of burger but in three larger-than-life sizes; starting at 250g, middling at 500g and going way off the top at a whopping 1kg. You may dismiss it as gimmicky at first (heck, even we did!), but the burgers are good. Made with homemade buns and patties (it's hard to get it processed in monster sizes), a healthy dose of black pepper sauce and cheese complemented the tender beef and sweet bread.

Basira Yeusuff, founder of yay The now-discontinued Crumbs (‘The overheads killed us,' Basira laments) served as practice for running a business, and paved the way for yay, sammich!, a sandwich company that gathered cult followers of her tender beef brisket sandwiches at gigs and festivals. Soon after, Basira's baking project picked up momentum with the assistance of social media and pop-up stalls.

She currently supplies salted caramel brownies, Earl Grey milk tea cakes and pecan pies to The Bee, a gig that has helped put yay cake! on the map.
