Testing From Colleagues Laptop Mag

The iPad Mini 4 updates Apple's iPad Mini line and improves specifications and build quality. The Mini 4 is built on a 1.5GHz Apple A8 processor, and benchmark testing from our colleagues at Laptop Mag showed that its performance is in line with the best mainstream tablets.

In processing performance test Geekbench 3 and graphics test 3DMark, the Mini 4 had respective scores of 3,107 and 18,313 points. Both were on par with comparable home tablets, so you can play games and browse the web on the Mini 4 with ease.

Tablet Loops Through Webpages Constant

Text and images were displayed with excellent fidelity and virtually free of noticeable pixilation. Overall, the Google Pixel C display abilities deservedly place it in the same league as other premium tablets we reviewed.

The Pixel C also performed solidly during battery benchmarking tests from our colleagues at Laptop Mag. In their testing, a tablet loops through webpages at a constant brightness until it powers down.

Although the Pro's specifications were phenomenal, the tablet's price tag and scale generally made it impractical for home and mainstream users. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro solves many of these missteps, as the newest iPad Pro offers more features meant to appeal to a general audience.

Thanks to its phenomenal design and performance, the iPad Pro earns the Top Ten Reviews Gold Award. Internally, the Pro is built with the updated Apple A9X processor, and in tests from our colleagues at Laptop Mag, the A9X put up superb marks for a tablet computer.

Light Laptops Won't Weigh You

Best Ultrabook: top thin and light laptops that won't weigh you down Dell's revamped XPS 13 has a nearly borderless display and a very small body for a 13-inch laptop, plus the latest Intel CPUs. Upgrades can get expensive; a touchscreen isn't included by default; the boost from the new CPU is minimal.

This new Dell XPS 13 is the first great laptop of 2015, but it owes that title more to a smart design revamp than Intel's new processors.

The Asus ZenBook Pro UX501 has a mix of high-end components and advanced features, from its Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia graphics card to its 4K touchscreen display and Thunderbolt 3 support. Combine all that capability with a premium all-metal design, and the ZenBook Pro UX501 easily earns our Gold Award for laptop computers.

The fact that it's one of the best laptops for the money is just a bonus.

Asus Zenbook Pro Ux501

The Asus ZenBook Pro UX501 sleek chassis measures 15.1 x 10 x 0.8 inches. It has an aluminum chassis and lid, with Asus' distinctive concentric circle brushed finish.

The all-metal design weighs 5 pounds, so it's not the lightest laptop, but most 15-inch laptops aren't designed for commutes and on-the-go use, so the extra weight isn't a major concern.

Samsung Galaxy Tab E

During our hands-on evaluations, pixelation was still present in high-detail applications like those for reading, but the display's brightness kept the screen from appearing dulled. Likewise, the Samsung Galaxy Tab E performed superbly in battery benchmarking.

Our testing followed methodology developed by our colleagues at Laptop Mag, wherein a tablet is set at a constant brightness and simulates normal web browsing until it powers down. The Tab E produced an exceptional mark of 13 hours and 22 minutes, which managed to beat the 11-hour average of competing premium tablets.

A convertible 2-in-1 design makes this far more flexible than the average laptop. Overall performance lags slightly behind the best systems we reviewed.

The HP Spectre x360 15t is a capable laptop in its own right, but it will turn heads with its sleek convertible design that lets it do double duty as a tablet. The HP Spectre x360 15t is the 15-inch variant of HP's impressive Spectre x360 line, which combines all the elements of a top-rated laptop with the extra flexibility of a 360-degree dual-axle hinge.

Apple Macbook Pro

The Apple MacBook Pro 15 all-metal unibody design is accented with a glowing white Apple logo on the lid and a backlit chiclet-style keyboard with black keys. The slim chassis measures 14.13 x 9.73 x 0.71 inches, making it thinner than most comparison laptops.

It weighs a modest 4.49 pounds, so it isn't the lightest laptop we compared, but it's still quite portable for a 15-inch system.

Apple Ipad Pro

The 9.7-inch Apple iPad Pro is portable and easy to carry around outside of the house. During the checkout process, you can also purchase Apple's Smart Keyboard cover, which is a combo keyboard-cover peripheral.

The keyboard cover isn't an essential accessory for the 9.7-inch Pro, since the onscreen touch keyboard is manageable to type on. But considering how heavily the Pro is touted as a laptop replacement, the fact that a physical keyboard remains a separate accessory is a nuisance. Elsewhere, the Pro includes a standard suite of hardware features.

Dell Xps 15

The Dell XPS 15 nearly borderless display allows the laptop to measure just 14.06 x 9.27 x 0.66 inches, even with a 15-inch display. That compact size makes it one of the best lightweight laptops for commuters who want a full 15-inch display but don't want the extra bulk of most mainstream 15-inch laptop computers.

Because of those narrow display bezels, the webcam is actually positioned below the bottom left corner of the screen, resulting in slightly awkward camera angles in video chat applications like Skype.
