During Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year Menu at Celestial Court, Sheraton Imperial KL
Fret not if you do not want to over-indulge in a 9-course banquet, there are ala carte delights from RM38 ++ per dish and Yee Sang priced from RM 98++ available. Yee Sang 鱼生 is a Malaysian and Singapore cultural “must-do” before the start of any meal during Chinese New Year. Yee Sang (Yúshēng) literally means raw fish but since “fish (鱼)” is commonly conflated with its homophone “abundance (余)”, Yúshēng (鱼生) is interpreted as a homophone for Yúshēng (余升) meaning an increase in abundance. Therefore, Yee Sang (Yúshēng) is considered a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor. It is served primarily with shredded vegetables, crisps and condiments and tossed for good luck and blessings.
