Samsung Galaxy Book
Samsung Galaxy Book 12 Review. What you do get is the battery free S Pen, which uses Wacom's digitizer technology, and the keyboard cover. Get too enthusiastic with your on-screen taps, or try to balance the whole assembly on your lap, and I found the Galaxy Book had a tendency to slip back. I much prefer the kick-stand design Microsoft uses, or indeed that of HP Spectre x2 series. They also have the benefit of allowing you to stand up the tablet alone, even if it's detached from the keyboard.

Surface Pro 4
Samsung Galaxy Book 12 Review. t's a clean, minimalistic design, and fairly lightweight too. At 754 grams complete with the keyboard attached, it undercuts the Surface Pro 4 slightly. That's despite the Samsung having a slightly larger, 39.04W battery. Inside, there's a 7th-generation Intel Core i5-7200U 3.1GHz dual-core, paired with 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. Samsung also offers an LTE configuration.

Samsung Galaxy Book

Samsung Galaxy Book
Samsung Galaxy Book 12. The other big input option is the S Pen. Samsung bundles that as standard, and it now uses a narrower 0.7mm tip that has been given a slight rubberized coating. It feels a little like a gel ink pen on the Galaxy Book. Still, it's as useful as a stylus can be. Samsung Notes is preloaded, and in portrait orientation the keyboardless tablet makes for a capable note taking slate. Alternatively, you could install Microsoft OneNote, which can also recognize digital ink.

Samsung Galaxy Book
Samsung Galaxy Book 12 Review: A premium 2-in-1 with a price to match. Well-constructed and quietly stylish.
Super AMOLED screen is superb.
S Pen is great for digital artists.
Impressive performance from Core i5. LTE option only comes with 4GB of RAM.
Very expensive.
Stand design can be frustrating. You wait for one premium 2-in-1 Windows 10 hybrid. Promising the latest in digital S Pen technology plus more processing power than you might expect from such a skinny slate.

3d Design

3d Design
I have tried the Galaxy Book in Best Buy and the stylus certainly is better than the old SP4 which has lousy light pressure sensitivity, and parallax problems. I will try the new SP5 stylus but doubt it will better the Samsung. The KB to me is a necessary evil and I actually found the feel and travel on the GB to be a bit better than the SP4 KB. I will use this largely as an art pad and with a mouse for 3D design, so honestly the Samsung may end up the better choice.

Apple Ipad Pro

Apple Ipad Pro
The 9.7-inch Apple iPad Pro is portable and easy to carry around outside of the house. During the checkout process, you can also purchase Apple's Smart Keyboard cover, which is a combo keyboard-cover peripheral. The keyboard cover isn't an essential accessory for the 9.7-inch Pro, since the onscreen touch keyboard is manageable to type on. But considering how heavily the Pro is touted as a laptop replacement, the fact that a physical keyboard remains a separate accessory is a nuisance. Elsewhere, the Pro includes a standard suite of hardware features.

Lenovo Miix 720

Lenovo Miix 720
If you really don't care about the detachable keyboard, your money might be better spent on something like a cheaper Lenovo Yoga notebook, with a keyboard which folds back behind the screen but doesn't actually detach. The keyboard cover is impressive, but still might frustrate those who spend their days typing. Lenovo Miix 720 keyboard it's actually one of the best slimline keyboards I've tested. Bought myself an 11-inch Lenovo Yoga 710 for travel – for less than $999 – I have to say I prefer its keyboard over the Miix's keyboard, even though the Lenovo Yoga keyboard is a tad small

Intel Core I5-7200u

Intel Core I5-7200u
Intel Core i5-7200U 2.71 GHz with 8GB RAM. Without the keyboard cover, the Miix 510 weighs just shy of 900g. The biggest problem is that we found the keyboard flexes a bit. And if you're a hard typist in any way (which device makers seem to be catering less and less for) then the keyboard bounces rather angrily. Light typing is always preferable.

Long Battery Life

Long Battery Life
Run on Windows 10. It's built around a nice-looking 12 inch super AMOLED touch display that's bright. This is owed to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 mobile platform designed specifically for Windows 10. The Samsung Galaxy Book2 successfully borrows the Microsoft Surface Pro design formula, while adding long battery life and Gigabit LTE wireless. Its $1,000 price includes its backlit keyboard cover and S Pen. The Galaxy Book2 processing performance, while improved from earlier Qualcomm Windows PCs, is still behind Intel Core i-series PCs.

Microsoft Surface Pro

Microsoft Surface Pro
The Type Cover combo keyboard cover provides a physical keyboard for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, but Microsoft only offers it as a separate accessory. Microsoft provides incremental improvements for the Pro 4's camera. The Surface 4's front-facing camera is still 5MP, which provides high-fidelity image quality for video calls. This is well ahead of the standard 1.2MP for tablets' front cameras. The rear-facing camera has a slight bump up to 8MP, which makes it easier to shoot high-definition photos and videos and is standard for tablets' rear cameras.
