Tinted Window Film

Home tint review. Pros of Tinted Window Film. Tinted window film is actually a thin, reflective film that adheres to the glass of the window itself.

It doesn't keep out as much heat as a Low-E glass would, but it will let in more light than solar screens. This is a pretty inexpensive option available for reducing heat transfer through windows. Some of the safety features include making your windows resistant to breakage in storms as well as hard for intruders to break.

Mirror Tinting Surprisingly Effective

Home tint review. Metalic window film / Mirror tinting is surprisingly effective and cheaper compare nano ceramic. Downside is your can't see much out at night.

Another downside could be pissy neighbours if your house windows are reflecting back. If there is a clear line of sight between your front windows and the neighbours and the sun hits your windows there is good chance of reflection. I wouldn't want any possibility of comeback from anyone driving past who could claim the reflection from my windows caused/contributed to their accident.

Mirror Tinting Surprisingly Effective

Home tint review. House tinted vs Roller shades. I have mirror tinting and some external roller shades. Each has good and bad. Mirror tinting is surprisingly effective and easily better bang for buck.

Downside is your can't see much out at night. Also only half works with sliding window open. Roller shades allow airflow with window open – good for bedrooms. They also cut out more light (and no doubt heat with window also closed). Downside is you can hardly see through them when they are down.

Metallic Window Films Reflective

Home tint review. Ceramic Vs. Metallic Window Tint for Homes. Regular dye based window tint is no longer recommended for residential use as the films tend to fade and bubble over time.

The best home window tint options are nano-ceramic based tint or metallic window film. Metallic window films are reflective. Nano-ceramic window tints are non-reflective. Bad about metallic window tint is that these films sometimes interfere with the signals from phones, radios, and other devices. Nano-ceramic window film does not interfere with signals at all.

Tinted Window Film

Home tint review. What disadvantages of Tinted Window Film?

The film does have a tendency to bubble over time, even within a couple of years. Sometimes it also gets a little crease in it so that you can tell that you've got a window film disrupting the view.

Home Tint Review

Home tint review. House Tinted Vs Blinds Vs Curtains. Tint: A significant factor in this decision is the amount of light you get to keep.

If you tint your windows, the light can still come in. Tinting also costs less. Cover: Blinds, curtains, or shutters usually eliminate most of your daily sunlight, which is rarely a desirable option during daylight hours. You have to close and open blinds, roller shutters, or curtains manually every day.
