Celebrate Chinese New Year

THIRTY8 at Grand Hyatt Hotel Elegant and polished, THIRTY8 at Grand Hyatt Hotel is definitely one of the best restaurants in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate Chinese New Year in style. Its festive menu is inclusive of a salmon Yee Sang (RM228++ per person) or abalone (RM288++) Yee Sang platter, soup for appetiser and glutinous rice flour cake for dessert while main courses consist of double-boiled chicken soup, steamed garoupa fillet, braised dried oyster, deep-fried crispy chicken, and fried rice wrapped in lotus leaf.

Perfectly catering to small families, this Chinese New Year offer only requires a minimum of four diners, and those who dine at THIRTY8 on 19 February can enjoy an exciting acrobatic lion dance performance on steep poles at the hotel's main entrance.

Bak Kwa During Chinese New

Where to get your Wing Heong Bak Kwa (Dried Meat). Locate the Bak Kwa in the Wing Heong Town. Honestly, nothing beats indulging in delicious bak kwa during Chinese New Year right?

Need to order more. By the way, I think the gift box was really a thoughtful idea especially when we want to give it to someone else. So happy Chinese New Year in advance everyone and make sure you try Wing Heong Bak Kwa (Dried Meat) [永香肉乾] to and share it with your loved ones.

Glutinous Rice Flour

Kueh Lapis Cushion Cover. A type of steamed multi-coloured Nyonya kueh that's known as 9-layers cake.

It is made of glutinous rice flour, coconut and sugar. We love to peel them off layer by layer and eat it!

Glutinous Rice Flour

Melaka Food. Nyonya Kuih. My favorite Nyonya Kuih is Ondeh-ondeh (or onde-onde). It is either made from sweet potato or glutinous rice flour.

The cute little ondeh-ondeh are infused with pandan (screwpine leaf) juice and filled with Gula Melaka (local sugar) or palm sugar and then rolled in with some fresh grated coconut. The palm sugar that's in it literally bursts in your mouth when you take a bite. This warm dessert oozes into your mouth. For takeaway, drive over to Baba Charlie Nyonya Cakes located in a residential area which is frequented by locals.
