iPhone 7 screen The iPhone 7 could be in for a big resolution jump if a DigiTimes source is to be believed, as Apple is apparently likely to move to glass-on-glass screens, which in turn opens up the possibility of a QHD or even a 4K display. A lot of Android phones already have QHD screens, and the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is 4K, so it's possible that Apple will pump up the resolution of its next flagship, but given that the iPhone 6S isn't even 1080p we're sceptical that it'll get anywhere near 4K.

If the iPhone 7 does get higher resolution it might get bigger too, especially as rival phones are growing in size all the time. We're not convinced though – we'd still bet on seeing 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models.

The HTC 10 is here, and it's packing Ultrapixels, Hi-Res Audio, a heap of customization and of course, a premium all metal design. Has the Taiwanese firm done enough to differentiate the 10 from the HTC One M9? HTC 10 is taller and wider than the HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6S, and it's also thicker than the Apple and Samsung devices.

The display has been given a boost with the HTC 10 boasting a QHD resolution across 5.2 inches. That's up from the 5-inch, full HD offering on the One M9, and puts the HTC 10 in line with the competition from the Galaxy S7, LG G5 and 4K Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

The Sony Xperia Z5 landed last month to a wave of enthusiasm. But is the Z5 the game-changer Xperia fans were hoping for? Yes, it is – in the camera department.

Elsewhere, not so much. Check out the above video for more details. If you're not familiar with my buying guides, check out my run-down of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Moto X Play.

You'll find these Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series processors in the more expensive phones and tablets on the market such as HTC One M9 and Sony Xperia Z5. The 800 tier is at least quad-core, has at least Adreno 330 graphics and at least LPDDR3 memory.

Qualcomm has experienced some overheating issues with the 810 prompting a v2.1 edition as found in the OnePlus 2. The Snapdragon 820 is the flagship processor for 2016 so we could see devices with it as early as CES in January. It offers twice the performance as previous generations and with better power efficiency.

Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Who says that high-end smartphones have to be gigantic affairs? Certainly not Sony, who shoved cutting-edge internals into the Z1 Compact in 2013. The Z1 Compact featured the same processor and cameras as its big brother (the Z1), showing the world that Compact doesn't need to mean budget.

We also saw the Z3 and Z3 Compact popping up last year, with Sony taking the same approach to matters. A year has passed since then, which means it's time for the Z5 Compact to continue Sony's run of a reasonably sized flagship phone. Design Looking at Sony's latest and greatest phone, there's no doubting that it's not a bad looking device.

Better Driving Experience

2016 Chevrolet Volt I just switched from a 2010 Malibu to a 2015 Volt. I leased it with a killer deal through GM, and am spending approximately $120 to $130 less per month to operate the car. My car payments are lower, I get free OnStar for 3 years, and I'm spending a fraction of the money on fuel even taking my electric bill into consideration.

I'd say that's a substantial savings. With the 2016, you may pay a little more than you would for a Prius, but you're getting a better driving experience, more features, and, overall, more car. Not to mention, you're not paying for antiquated NiMH batteries that Toyota should've stopped using in 2006 when they were testing out Li-Ion Rav 4s (that the test groups loved). *shrug* After the tax incentives, the price difference isn't even that big.

Necessarily Bad Thing

While the new Asus Zenbook UX305 seems extremely derivative, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. If the MacBook Air helped set the benchmark for Ultrabooks, then the UX305 has surpassed it and improved on the design.

What's more, you also get a lot more ports too. This 13-inch laptop comes packing three USB 3.0 ports – which isn't even available on premium laptops, like the MacBook Pro and Surface Book. There's also an SD card reader and micro HDMI to round out the selection of ports.
