Cafe Komugi Slice Cakes

Cafe Komugi Slice Cakes
Cafe Komugi slice cakes tofu cheesecake, the crust was a buttery, almost shortbread cookie-like crust, slightly sweetened. the layer of "cheesecake" was airier with the taste of cream cheese but texturally it was almost a cross between a firm cheesecake and a marshmallow and topped with a layer of airy whipped cream. overall, considering one of the ingredients masked in the dessert is tofu, it was an enjoyable success.
successful enough for me to choose this over a regular cheesecake? not quite. was a healthier variation of the cheesecake, it isn't something we would end up be craving for.

Gallo Wine Bar
Though their focus is on wine but it doesn't mean they compromise on food quality. Gallo Wine Bar has an extensive menu of tapas and platters to nibble in between sipping wine and conversations. We started with the succulent Grilled Lamb Rack (RM68) topped with a layer of melted goat cheese. I highly recommend this one.

Hakka Mee Stall at Paris Restaurant (巴黎茶室)
Known for its springiness, the Hakka Mee at the Paris Restaurant does not need to be heavily sauced to be tasty. Ideal for breakfast, the Hakka Mee is topped with minced pork and eaten together with Yong Tau Fu as the side dish. You do not need to know what to order at the Paris Restaurant. Since it is a standard order, you'll only need to tell the boss your headcount. Location:
Ipoh Town 164 & 166, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Pusat Bandaraya, 30000,

Yong Tau Foo
We wanted to go the famous Restoran Paris Hakka Mee but it has been closed for 2 days. So we settled for the hakka mee stall at Restoran Cathay. I haven't had enough Hakka mee to compare but I like the friendliness of the stall owner. Hakka Mee is a favourite breakfast among many Ipoh-reans. You just have to order single portion, one and a half portion or double portion, then they will pick the different yong tau foo items for you. The eggy noodles are topped with a scoop of minced meat seasoned with soy sauce and fish sauce.

Lower Ground Floor
My girlfriend introduced to me Jonker Sweets Dessert stall some time ago and I have been hooked since. The stall is located at Lower Ground floor Gardens Mall.
It has my all time favorite tong sui - black glutinous rice or hak lo mai. They also have a variety of other tong sui, ice kacang and fruit lolo (ice shavings topped with fresh fruits and sago).
Tong sui is priced at MYR 3.30 a bowl. Fruit lolo starts from MYR 6.50 onwards and they have a few varieties to choose from. I would say that the price is decent for the serving size and in a shopping mall.

Soft Shell Crab
Celebrate Christmas the Chinese way at this Mitzo, Singapore, with a Festive Merriment menu that will have your tum feeling jolly. The higher-tier set menu rolls out a Festive Platter with barbecued pork and soft shell crab wrapped with salted egg charcoal puff for the first course, and follows up with double-boiled abalone soup with winter melon, pork ribs and lotus leaf, steamed live Boston lobster and poached noodles topped with pork ribs. And as for dessert? Champagne jelly served with rose tea crush and lychee caviar sounds fine and dandy to us!

Pork Slices
May King Lam Mee - This place has been around for almost 50 years and still serving up one of the best lam mee in town. There is no mistaking their rich, thick starchy sauce poured over thick yellow noodles topped with cabbage, prawns, pork slices, fried shallots and sprinkled with spring onions. The sauce clings to the noodles as you take each bite giving you a deep rich flavoursome mouthful.

Thin Layer

Thin Layer
Cafe Komugi tart hokkaido cheese tart (rm 6.90) the crust was of the shortbread cookie buttery and crumbly sweetness and the filling reminded me of a key lime pie but mellowed by the sweetness and creaminess of the cheese. definite a significant punch of acidity of the lemon zestiness from the smooth cheese filling, sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped with a fresh raspberry. hidden between the cheese filling and the crust was a thin layer of reduced raspberry sauce lining the inner pie tart crust but it didn't do much for the tart.
