Often, bak kwa are also gifted to family and friends throughout the two weeks of the festive season. The typical recipe for marinating bak kwa include salt, pepper, sugar, soya sauce, rice wine, five spice powder and fish sauce.

For my gluten free bak kwa recipe, I am using pork mince and marinade ingredients are salt, ground white pepper, sugar, gluten free light soy sauce, gluten free kecap manis, gluten free oyster sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil, medium dry sherry and five spice powder. And honey is used for glazing.

I don't know why Funny Mountain Soya Bean & Tau Fu Fah has such a funny name. But heck, their beancurd is really good! So good that I want to have a bowl every single day I am in Ipoh.

They do traditional beancurd which is so soft, so smooth and so cheap (only RM 1). Of course, portion is small so it enticed me to eat 2 or 3 bowls at one go. The Tan brothers have been running this place since the 50s. Very Cheap Bak Kut Teh at Geylang, Singapore. The bak kut teh here has one of the nicer and sweeter soup. The pork ribs are tender and juicy and can see that the stall owner should have cook this dish for several hours as they meat has really turned into dark brown colour.

Lots of black pepper seeds are added in the soup which make it tastes slighty spicy but yet really shiok. The soup base is more towards the darker version which I believe they have use quite alot of dark soya sauce in it. The portion is quite big and generous and with a big bowl of rice serve with it.
