Happy Chinese New Year
Hello all! Wishing y'all a very Happy Chinese New Year! Hope everyone is still celebrating this festive week. As for me, I have a very large family extended to 4 generations. Getting everyone together is the easy task, just bring loads of food… the whole army will come. Each brothers and sisters will cook ie. pot luck. Cousins and grandchildren will do their part too, bringing the drinks. One of the highlight of the dishes, is yee sang ie. a julienne of carrot, green papaya, pickles, crackers, fresh salmon, sprikle of cinnamon, plum sauce, nuts, sesame seed etc. As you can see our version of yee sang as above… with everyone tossing the salad (loh hei) for good luck and prosperity.

Sweet Charm Farm Winery
Taiwan trip review. Just a stone's throw away is Sweet Charm Farm Winery (石围墙酒庄), where we gathered around for some plum wine tasting. The ladyboss was really nice to let us try almost all flavours that they have, which having me ended up getting two fruit vinegars and one plum wine! They were not only yummy and appetising, but really affordable too.

Roast Duck In Pj

Roast Duck In Pj
Top Picks for Roast Duck in PJ.
Chef Onn Guangzhou Roast Duck
Famous for its Guangzhou-styled roast duck, this stall is located inside the Damansara Hokkien Mee restaurant and has been around for some time. On the evening we were there, there was already a large crowd waiting for their ducks to be packed as takeaways.
The ducks here are very meaty and are coated in a marinade with strong nuances of Chinese herbs, in particular tong kwei (angelica). They are rather salty too. A platter of duck is served with gravy poured over it, making the duck skin a bit chewy but the meat still retains a lovely golden colour. Saucers of plum sauce and chilli sauce are served on the side. You can also order a plate of Hokkien mee to go with the roast duck if white rice does not appeal to you.

Points James Suckling
Mascota 2016 La Mascota Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)
90. Points by James Suckling
Dry, spicy berry and plum aromas are a hit. An angular punchy palate is tannic and scraping, while raspberry, black plum and black currant flavors are bolstered by vanilla and spice notes prior to a live-wire rugged finish. We deliver to your doorsteps.

Cabernet Sauvignon
2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot. The 2 varieties were carefully blended to highlight the ripe dark plum
Cabernet fruit on the nose and palate with Merlot contributing savoury
characters and velvety tannins on the palate. This is an elegant wine that
has great depth of flavour and with its great balance and wood integration
this wine should age gracefully for many years to come.

Red Colour
2015 Shiraz Viognier Reserve.
A wine with a deep red colour leaning into prominent dark plum and
spicy flavours on the nose with a floral hint coming from the Viognier in
the blend. Touches of mulberry and rosemary on the palate are well

Red Fruits
BK Wines "Springs Hill" Red Blend 2015. Myr 176.00. Mourvèdre, Shiraz, Grenache. Adelaide Hills, Australia. 750ml. This has real funkiness and earthiness, a slightly reductive barnyard character. The palate juicy and brimming with red fruits, a black plum fleshy and chocolaty density to this but then the fresh crunch comes through.
