Number Threads Per Square Inch

I like a nicki or terry bed sheets and all of them are bought in Europe. I just do not like the American ways with the comforters and sheets. I iron my sheets if needed.

Especially the bed skirts. You also should be aware that 600 threats, or even 800 or higher are not necessary of the best quality. Retailers are selling bed sheets with highly exaggerated thread counts (the number of threads per square inch of fabric). A high thread count should indicate that a sheet is exceptionally soft and luxurious.

Thread Count Refers The Number

Thread count refers to the number of threads woven into per square inch of fabric. The higher the thread count, the softer and more durable the fabric is. The thread count of standard cotton or muslin is around 150 whereas good quality sheets start at 180.

A count of 200 and higher is referred to as "percale". Thread count also relates to the quality of yarn and its construction. With finer threads, more can be woven into each square inch producing a finer, softer, more flexible fabric. Thread counts above 500 are something of a misnomer.

Square Inch Fabric

Bedsheets are a necessity for every bed, and if you're looking to impress, they come in many different varieties and qualities. Here are a few differences between two typical types of sheets: microfiber and cotton linens.

All linens are sold with a specific “thread count”, which is the number of threads woven together per square inch of fabric. Both the lengthwise and widthwise threads are counted.
