Past a small entry, the foyer is large enough for a sitting area where guests can gather on a Rodolfo Dordoni sofa before proceeding to the kitchen, straight ahead, or to the upstairs. Level two boasts the living and dining areas at one end, the media room at the other—that's the real hangout place. The master suite and the library sprawl over level three, and the children's four bedrooms are above. At the top are a guest.

Media Room When watching television and movies or listening to music, the acoustics of a room are a factor. You don't want to disturb others in adjoining rooms, and at the same time you want to enjoy hearing what you're listening to.

Carpet and cork are good choices where acoustics count. Avoid hardwood.

A rounder shape is a bit more conducive for a smaller space meant to serve as a gathering area for groups of people, but could also be perfect for a media room.
