Johor Chief Minister Osman Sapian said that he wanted to link eastern Johor with Singapore. The proposed bridge would start at Pengerang near Kota Tinggi and end at Pulau Ubin. We're not quite sure what Mr Sapian would like to see at Pulau Ubin, but we're curious to see how Singapore responds to the proposed bridge.

According to Johor Chief Minister Osman Sapian, the proposed route for the Johor third link bridge would be from the Sungai Rengit area in Pengerang, Kota Tinggi district to Pulau Ubin. Datuk Osman said, “Yesterday I had a discussion with several interested parties.

From the discussion, there is likely to be a third link in eastern Johor that will link to Pulau Ubin in Singapore”. He continued adding, “It will be developed like the Second Link crossing”.

In response to media queries, a spokesperson from Singapore's Ministry of Transport said: "We have not received any official proposal or communications from Malaysia regarding a third link between Singapore and Malaysia." Earlier, Malaysian state media reported that the Johor government was researching the possibility of building a bridge from Pengerang near Kota Tinggi to the Pulau Ubin island in Singapore.

According to the Star Online, Osman said this hypothetical third bridge will have one end in Sungai Rengit, Pengerang in the Kota Tinggi District of Southeastern Johor. The other?

Pulau Ubin. Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad also reportedly confirmed the talk about the third bridge. Speaking to local media on the same day, he said: "There are some planning."
