the painter who paint my house did for me...he will do skim coat for all the old wall (I bought old house) and those new walls that got hacked. then, I request him to apply sealer for all the wall before paint the emulsion paint. Skim coat are cement based material.

Sealer are liquid based material @ paint. Skim coat can be used to have smoother and even finish surface.. If to cover crackline use need to use alternative product depending on the crackline severity.
