Bamboo flooring is either solid or engineered. Horizontal and vertical construction use bamboo shoots in their natural state, glued uniformly either horizontally or vertically, to create boards that look like natural bamboo. Solid bamboo floors are more prone to water damage and generally not advised for wet environments, like bathrooms. Strand-woven boards are made of shredded bamboo that's compressed under pressure to form boards. While more durable than solid bamboo, caution should still be used in bathrooms, such as using a good topcoat.

Hardwood Floors
Bamboo Flooring Australia. Bamboo is warm and sophisticated in appearance, has many similar properties as hardwood floors and is considered from an environmental viewpoint to be superior to other materials. Bamboo floors are very durable; in fact, they can be considered more durable than their hardwood friends. This point alone makes the material a worthy option for a family home or spaces of high use. In saying this, bamboo is a natural material and is not immune to general wear and tear or ill-treatment.
