If you are looking for something a little more dramatic than just paint to create an accent wall in your home, I've got a great idea for bringing out some serious WOW factor in your decor. When we recently moved from an older renovated home full of texture and color, to a newly constructed home - we opted for a fairly clean slate this time and chose a neutral light gray wall color for most of the house.

They match the counter top and the accent wall. Another type is the counter-height stool which is the one we're more interested in. These stools are smaller than the ones used in bars and restaurants and they're the best for kitchen islands.

This bedroom features a big bold accent wall composed of an oversized mosaic of wooden rhombuses arranged in a gorgeous pattern. The wood used here has a very fine and distinct grain and heightens the luxury of the panels.

Select a color that can be tied to the overall space with fabrics, area rugs, and accessories. The remaining walls can be painted in a lighter version of the accent color, or select a neutral with an undertone that complements the accent wall.

Instead of paint, why not use wallpaper to create a colorful accent wall in your bedroom? Most often, the wall at the head of the bed is chosen for the honor, but you can spotlight a second wall as well, or choose the wall most in need of a splash of interest.

If your room is small, choose wallpaper with a limited palette, like the gold-and-white paper shown here. If your room is dark, pick wallpaper with a dark background – despite common misconception, dark walls work best in a dark room.

What I love is that this is a very gray room and neutral. The purple can be swapped out at any point for a different color.
