Dim Sum

Wai Sek Kai Hawker Centre Jalan Sayur, Pudu and Kepong Baru Night Market (Tuesdays) 12-26, Jalan Lang Kuning, Kepong Baru. What is Yam Cake?: A Chinese side dish, yam cake can be steamed or fried, the latter resulting in a crusty skin; and is usually topped with fried shallots, french onion, and cut chilli.

The mild flavours go very well with dim sum dipping sauce and chilli sauce, with which it is usually served. If you prefer a less dense texture, then opt for Chinese radish cake, a similar-tasting alternative.

Even Better

Charlotte & Wai Kit. We also wanted to try some quirky ideas like a dating scene at a hawker centre and Milan made it possible with the final product turning out even better than the picture we had in our heads.

Our friends and relatives have commented on how special our pre-wedding photos turned out. Joan was also wonderful even though we couldn't communicate in English, she still managed to get all the looks spot on. We can't thank you enough for the lovely keepsake photos we now have!

Open Air

What special to eat when you around Jalan Imbi on evening Saturday. Open air hawker centre along Jalan Imbi. Remember only open on Wed, Thurs and Saturdays only.

Although we reached there way before dinner time, we noticed a queue already forming at one of the few open stalls. Then it hit me that it is actually the famous Nyonya Kuih stall in Imbi. So we were lucky to have arrived early to catch them before the queue got any longer.

Meat floss is also a common thing to find at a shop like Wing Heong. Their meat floss is also as famous and as good as their ‘Bakkwa'. Besides the common ones, they have crispy meat floss and also with seaweed mix.

I've tried all of it but I have to say that the seaweed meat floss it's superbly good. Meat floss are usually served as a snack and as condiments. Meat floss goes well with dried meat as a sandwich treat and also as dish on its own with porridge.

Cencaluk is a Malay food that I'll try every time I visit Melaka. I always buy at a stall along the roads near Klebang Beach.

It is made of fermented small shrimps and is usually served as a condiment together with chillis, shallots and lime juice. I simply love the sour and salty taste!
