There is local delicacies origin from Kampar and can be said quite famous which is Kampar Curry Bread Bun. It is available at Yau Kee Restaurant Kota Damansara. The shop owner open up a branch at Kota Damansara as a plan of expansion of the company and try they luck in Kuala Lumpur. I don't managed to capture the shop but there is another blogger blog about the shop and managed to capture it.Me and my missus stumble with the shop as we were searching other shop at that place.

Kampar Curry Chicken Bun
A peak into the bun! Curry with soft, fluffy bun is just too tasty! To make this, you need to cook chicken curry and wrapped them in sweet bread dough. You can use your own favorite recipes for them but here I am sharing a speedy recipe for the curry and a bread dough recipe which one can either hand knead or use a breadmaker.

Kampar Curry Chicken Bun
Kampar Curry Chicken Bun
One last post for MFF Perak. This bun was made popular in Kampar hence the name Kampar Curry Chicken Bun. The uniqueness of it is there is a curry chicken parcel wrapped inside the bun. To eat it, one will have to tear/cut open the bun, unwrapped the parcel then dip the bun into the curry and eat it with the chicken. I have made this a couple of times (and posted it too) and it's always very well received by family members and friends. We usually have it for dinner.
I normally make it in portions for individual serving whereas for the real mccoy it is one giant bun with most probably half a chicken in it to be shared out. Imagine the size of the bun! To get an idea of it, do hop by my friend Lena's place.

Yau Kee Restaurant
55 & 57, Jalan Idris

Perak, Malaysia
Tel: +605-465 1738
Yau Kee's staffed by a troupe of sullen-faced waitresses who relished snapping at customers, but who were otherwise very efficient. Ours came with the pillow-shaped/sized bun which she proceeded to slash criss-cross with a sharp knife to reveal a paper-wrapped package. A lovely curry aroma wafted out as she unwrapped the package. The soft, sweetish bread which enclosed the curried chicken can be used to dip into the gravy. Lovely dish, though the curry was a bit saltier than I'd have liked. In fact, the copycat version we have in Singapore actually tasted *better* than Yau Kee's (not sure about Kam Ling's - we were too full to contemplate a second chicken-in-a-bun at the time).

Yau Kee Restaurant
Kampar, Malaysia - Chicken-curry-in-a-bun from Yau Kee
Yau Kee Restaurant claims to have "invented" the chicken-curry-in-a-bun dish where curried chicken and potatoes are first paper-wrapped in grease-proof paper, then enclosed in a sweet, bread dough and baked. Apparently, it's a claim much disputed by their bitter town rival, Kam Ling, down the same street of this otherwise sleepy town on Kampar in the Malaysian state of Perak.
Kampar is also known all over Malaysia for the crisp, sesame-studded spiced "chicken biscuits" or "kai chai peng" in Cantonese.

The chicken cooked with curry is wrapped inside the bread. If you are not able to take spicy food, settle for the equally tasty herbal chicken bread. Char Kway Teow
favourite places for yam cake in PJ and KL. Restoran Goodview Kopitiam. Look for the char kway teow stall at this corner coffee shop in Section 17, PJ. It is run by Yap Han Ling who also sells yam cake based on his grandmother's recipe.
Here the yam cake has a nice fluffy texture with chunks of taro. It is generously topped with aromatic dried prawns and fried shallots.
Yap tells us the secret for his fluffy yam cake is because he uses taro specially picked by his uncle who runs a vegetable stall in the wet market. He prepares two trays .

Char Kway Teow
Ending my Ipoh makan trip with a plate of the golden char kway teow at Sin Lean Lee. Some love it, some hate it. But This petite size char kway teow comes with a pretty egg on top. Perhaps that's the reason why they call it golden. Each small plate of CKT costs RM3.50 with two prawns and a few cockles. The kway teow and yellow mee is fried till a wet style and has a slightly charred flavour.
