CHATEAU LEOVILLE BARTON 2009. This vintage, still in its youth, evoques a warm, sented atmosphere reminiscent of linden blossom and hyacinths. It's just like biting into a fresh grape.

This is a robust wine with deep, long flavours. There is nothing aggressive here, the silky, elegant, ever accessible tannins roll like marbles around the palate. Wine Enthusiast 98 Points, Le Guide Hachette des Vins, 2013: 2 Stars.

A champion of longevity, even when young Talbot is pleasant and rounded, ever distinguished by silky, mild and very civilized tannins. Talbot possesses an extraverted nature. It's never withdrawn into itself, and has the courtesy of being in a good mood every day. It's a racy wine, with complex marks of Havana and licorice, classically delicious without ever the slightest hint of austerity.

Lovely mid density colour, not light or black with purple hues. Dark cherry and now released as a young wine, some noticeable cherry oak notes on the aroma. Brokenwood had the luxury of being highly selective across all its barrels in 2014 and this wine has benefited greatly from some declassified old vine Graveyard Shiraz in the blend. Full flavoured and slight Hunter Valley iodine characters and lots of ripe blackberry fruit.

CHATEAU PICHON BARON 2005. The 2005 Pichon Baron has a dense ruby/purple color, sweet crème de cassis fruit, lots of cedar wood and forest floor, medium to full body, ripe tannin, and a long finish of a good 30+ seconds. This is a beauty and one of the most successful Pauillacs of this vintage.

CHATEAU PICHON LALANDE 2003. 95 Points Robert Parker The Wine Advocate. This has very ripe fruit, but not overripe. Hints of prunes but mostly currants and spices on the nose, mainly cinnamon.

Full-bodied with firm tannins yet polished and velvety. It still has an incredible freshness. I love it. Try it after 2015, but enjoy this now if you cannot wait.
