Goodyear Malaysia Launches Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3. Now I'm a happy user of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 tyres , so when I found out that Goodyear has launched its latest premium tire, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 in Malaysia, it got me excited.

The new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 is packed with new technology. Here's a quick share on this tyre.

These Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 is an excellent tyre. I drive fast(safely too) on the highways and have always felt confident doing so with this tyre.

Only once taking a big round about at approx 70kph(i was being crazy at Malaysia) did the tyres let me know they were about to give way, so i loosen off the throttle and problem solved. When the tread got worn off, tramlining became noticable and it wasn't so easy to put down my 180 bhp to the front wheels, but that's to be expected with little tread left! These tyres wear at a pretty good rate despite the torque I'm kicking from my car.

Maxxis Victra Ipro price RM 250. Got 15 inches directional tyre Malaysia. Enhanced sidewall design with a hard bead filler maximizes steering feedback and lateral stability. Solid center rib offers extra stability and confidence at higher speeds.

Used before Maxxis tyre, last time very cheap. Now already increased price, i guess due to it is good tyre and very demanding. Very soft, less noise and good performance tyre. Goodyear Eagle F1 also directional tyre but Goodyear tyre used before not realiable.

Anyway, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 seems to be a good enough tyre event without comparable tyres to try out on that day. I however have personal experience from memory and notes that the Directional 5 seems to be better overall than the mid range Yokohama A-drive R1s and most probably on par with the dry grip found in the Nexen N6000 (which I am now trying out).

Too bad I couldn't try out high speed steering feel as the wet and dry slalom as well as the time attack event happened at speeds lower than 100km/h.

The event started off at about 9 o'clock in the morning at the Proton Automobile Test Track over in Shah Alam, Malaysia. The participants were divided into four groups and things got moving with the introduction of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 (pictured above).

This tyre supposedly takes over the mantel of the extremely good looking Eagle GS-D3. I suppose it does but it isn't as sexy looking as the GS-D3 as it is made up of a less aggressive directional pattern.

Recently Car Throttle was invited to one of the programs held in conjunction with the launch of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 2 and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 in Malaysia. The event, held on the 30th of July 2011 was part of the Malaysian launch for the above mentioned tyres and it was a whole day event with participation from various Malaysian car clubs (the BMW, Honda, Porsche, VW-Audi to name a few).

It was a basically a blast.
